Terry Robinson
President-Elect

Commercial Arts Instructor
Canadian Valley Technology Center - ElReno

Terry Robinson became an art instructor in 1974, and 20 years later, when accepting the job of commercial arts instructor at the Canadian Valley Technology Center in El Reno, Okla., he added "SkillsUSA advisor" to his job title. As a high-ranking member of the Boy Scouts, Robinson had been working with young people for a long time when he joined SkillsUSA, and he parlayed that experience into creating a strong chapter. Known for his ability to inspire and encourage, Robinson has been the Oklahoma northwest district advisor for the last 10 years. He is most proud of the fact that he has had seven medal winners in Customer Service in the six years it has been a contest, with five of those seven going to the national competitions. Robinson has also coached national Chapter Business Procedure teams and served as chair for many state level contests. But leadership training is just as important to Robinson as his students' skill competitions. He's an active participant in the Oklahoma Summer Leadership Institute, a member of numerous CTE-related committees and a strong presenter at various conventions and training seminars. His many awards include the Oklahoma ACTE Teacher of the Year in 2004 and ACTE Region IV Trade and Industrial Teacher of the Year in 2005.
